Sometimes in sports it can come down to the final performance before the team or athlete knows if they will be making it to the postseason. This is especially the case in high school track and field because regionals are determined at the district meet. A track star can actually dominate for weeks ahead of the district meet but if they don’t bring their “A” game at district, they won’t be advancing to regionals. The coaches know this as well as the athletes and they typically call us in anticipation of winning results. That phone conversation usually is a request for…

I just heard about this worthy project on Indieagogo that provides a community workshop for kids to learn how to fix bikes and also earn their way to getting a new bike. This kind of community project is very valuable and a great example that lots of communities could replicate. As with Kickstarter they offer various incentives to people to help fund their project including the T-Shirt above, you can also buy bikes, sticker packs and other goodies. Check out the video, it’s a great story.

    15 May 2012 | 4:59 pm
Sup, Threadheads?! This edition of Threadspotting comes to you with a little twist. Many of you (and I mean MANY) have sent in sightings of Danny Pudi’s character, Abed, wearing various Threadless tees on NBC’s Community. Well, we’ve compiled the majority of them, and now we’re going to play a game called “Name Those Designs!” The rules are simple: Check out the photos below and, in the comment section, list the names of the designs AND the artist in the correct order. The first person to list the designs correctly in the the right order wins! Simple, right? What do you win? A…

Attention sloganeers! We love the way you craftily glue words together to make hilarious phrases and pithy sentences. But after much thought, we’ve decided that slogans are kinda hard to judge without seeing them as part of a final design. So, we’re removing slogans submission and voting from Threadless.com. What does this mean for all you witty wordsmiths out there? In order to judge slogans fairly, we want you to collab with artists and submit your slogans in finished designs so they can go through the normal voting process. This will give those people who score your slogans an idea of…

Why restrict what you wear to what’s on the shelf? Bespoke clothing is no new phenomenon, but in a world dominated by fashion, it can be hard to wear something individual. Personalised t-shirts provide an outlet for your creative flair, and are a great way of letting yourself be heard. Whether you choose a witty slogan, a particularly poignant image, or just a meaningless picture, the choice and flexibility is something you deserve.

My aesthetic takes seemingly different concepts and fuses them together to breed a new meaning that provokes thought from the viewer. This sparked the platform that Adhesion Clothing was formed upon: to revolutionize meaning, ignite thought, and inspire creativity. If you’re a fan of Tim Burton, you’re probably aware that he likes to draw. Certain sketches stay with him, and provide the genesis of ideas that he explores in detail in his films and other work. When Burton first drew his iconic character Edward Scissorhands, he had sharper instruments than those seen in the movie, but the emotional thrust remained the same; here was a person who wanted an emotional connection and wanted to be touched, but couldn’t actually be touched because of the sharpness of the instruments — isn’t this a brilliant metaphor for an inability to form close…

I was a little worried because I had to measure it myself, the jacket fit perfectly, the trousers were a little tighter than I'm used to around the thighs so I will be adjusting my profile to accommodate this. I'll allow an extra inch to what the tape measure says, only if you like loose fitting trousers, apart from that excellent. I would definitely go back to them again.

    1 May 2012 | 11:18 am
Another priceless and also rather pricey T-shirt, but maybe worth it if you are as much of a pizza freak as my friend Aidy. You see, Aidy and I went to Uni together and where most of us were out there, doing stuff that students do and maybe shouldn’t do, but do anyway, involving legal and maybe illegal highs, and lovely ladies and mingingly horrible ladies and not getting assignments in on time. And, in my case, T-shirts. Well, in Aidy’s case it was pizza. He was like a pizza connoisseur. A pizza fiend. There wasn’t an eat-in or takeaway within 60 miles of Leeds that he hadn’t…

This may not look like the most elegant T-shirt ever, but believe me, it’s been the most exciting thing I’ve seen for a long, long time. This is a garment that, according to the Japanese designers, is based on the area cleared by windscreen wipers. So that’s definitely an abstract depiction! Anyway, depending on the version you buy, the curves are deceptive – there’s version I which has three stripes and the top one is a microfibre strip that can be used to polish up your mobile or other device, while version II has a microfibre bottom strip that can be used by the average geek to…
  • Puffer Fish T-shirt from Cupcake Cult

    25 Apr 2012 | 10:16 am
This is the time of year when cute and bright T-shirts come into their own, which is probably why I’m so fixated on them right now. Don’t wait until summer, when all you need is a tan, a smile and a new white Tee, the time to show off your colors is now, when Spring is playing mind-games by pretending it’s really November out there. This T-shirt from Cupcake Cult fits the bill: it’s bright and slick but the image isn’t cutesy – really nice to see a T-shirt with a good back print too, as it’s getting pretty rare to see this approach. I guess the recession affects T-shirt…

Because I'm prone to longwindedness (see, even that word was long), I'm going to try to make this as short and sweet as possible.  Yes, Shirts on Sale is dead...and it's totally my fault.  Due to certain circumstances in my life (nothing's wrong, don't worry!), we are unable to maintain the high level of quality you've come to expect from our site.  We would rather shutter our doors than offer our awesome community less-than-stellar service. This change has nothing to do with our committed writers and their work.  Ryan and I both agree that the current lineup, our biggest…

    31 Oct 2009 | 12:20 am
These white ravens (if that's what they are) have really taken to this phonograph. Dancing to the beat, all night long. Trust me -- they're smart enough to learn the waltz. Well... maybe not, but they're smart enough to know good music when they hear it.It's a flock thing. And like all flock activity, birdie see birdie do. Two has become three. The new guy flying in is about ready to get his groove on.Where was he before this, you ask? Bugging the hell out of Poe. Croaking, "Nevermore!"If he tries any of that stuff here, he'll get kicked out...or worse...pass it on. We'll be surrounded by…

I love music. Old rock with fuzzy guitars and raw thrashy percussion turned up LOUD simply can’t be beat. But I tired of music tshirts a couple of years ago, back when it became cool to wear a Rolling Stones tshirt not because you were a fan of the band, but because you wanted to look ‘punk rock’ (ironic I know, since the ‘Stones are anything but punk). Ok, since it's Jessica Alba I'll forgive her... Now that they hype around the whole ‘instantaneous-punkification-by-wearing-a-token-band-tshirt’ has died down a bit, I’m back on the music…

In a single strike the 8 Ball can win you ultimate glory (or at least the next shout at the bar), or it can leave you walking away with your tail between your legs and a tear in the corner of your eye. So you can probably appreciate why the name 8 Ball is a such an appropriate name for an online tshirt store.  Based out of the United Kingdom, 8Ball.co.uk stocks a plenty of t shirt designs with real meaning, some of them light-hearted, humorous and risqué, and others verging on political…

The number 13 is significant in most cultures. For example, let’s take Friday the 13th, which  is not only a cult horror movie, but for some reason is also the busiest day of the year for many tattoo parlors.  In mainland China they choose to skip the number 13 in highrise building elevators for superstitious reasons. It goes without saying, that there’s no other number around that holds such superstitious powers as the number 13.   For Chris, the founder of Thirteen Clothing, 13 is a lucky number. Thirteen Clothing began its life on the glorious Gold Coast, Australia…

Their new album, “On Mars,” was released last month on Dirtnap Records and its infectious single, “Anybody Out There”, has received a clever, DIY video treatment that ponders that very question. One might want to be a bit wary about messing with the One True Ring, but wielding the force and blasting spells while travelling through the vast passage of time is enough to make any geeks world function just fine. Still, one would have to wonder what the fifth element of Eastern tradition would be – perhaps adamantium claws?  Details Size: S-3XL Colors: Choose Price: $30.41  The design of this shirt is brilliant…

Han Solo might have a bit of trouble flying the Kessel Run on the back of a non-atmospherically-sealed Luck Dragon and it seems like there would be little room for a smuggler’s cargo, meaning a change of occupation might be in order. Either way, he certainly appears to be having quite a bit of fun. With the Death Star lurking in the background, one has to wonder whether it is just looming as it appears to be, or if the whole lot…

A few drinks later and this trio of doom may well be finding themselves exchanging…

  • Water Based Discharge Screen Printing

    gio
    15 May 2012 | 3:07 am
Discharge screen printing is a water based process that allows for printing onto dark coloured garments with light coloured inks, while maintaining an extremely “soft hand” finish offered by water based inks. Water based screen printing is limited in that it is not well suited for printing onto dark coloured garments. Discharge ink differs in that it is specialty ink that works by removing the dye from cotton fibers in a garment at a certain temperature, then replaces the dye with the desired ink, thus allowing for printing water based discharge ink onto dark garments.  Discharge screen…
  • Eco-Friendly Water Based Screen Printing

    gio
    14 May 2012 | 3:04 am
When it comes to screen printing ink, there are two types: plastisol and water based. Plastisol is the industry standard and the default ink used by commercial printers. It uses a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) base, as opposed to water based ink, which is exactly what its name suggests, a water based ink with pigments suspended within it. The limitation associated with water based inks is that you cannot print onto dark coloured garments, but they are excellent for printing vibrant colours onto lighter coloured garments. Furthermore, the print result is affected by the colour of the garment. For…

Of course I am not telling or cheering you to walk naked in the streets but only to fall in love with a nude colour… Because this colour is so easy to use with everything you have in your closet – honestly, with everything! The best combination this and next season is with the pastels, you can’t go wrong with it! Not even mentioning the combinations that are always IN – with black, with white and with red. Nude colour lights you up, makes you look casual, elegant and shows that you totally identify with the strength of the colour. The most common use when it comes to…

nother trend which I honestly think has never been out of the fashion is the red colour. This season perhaps more than ever because same like the white colour you can wear the whole red outfit. Well…if you do then maybe you should not wear the red shoes as well. Black, white or the best choice will be the nude pumps or wedges – anything what makes you feel comfortable but also not destroying the outfit! For someone it can be too much wearing only red, especially if it is not his or hers favourite colour. Usually people are used to wear only one red part of the outfit – t-shirt,…

We’ve have been wanting to make these cool t-shirt bags for a while now but all the instructions we’ve seen had sewing involved and for as crafty as we are around here, sewing is not our thing.  Then we saw this drawstring option on Pinterest and knew it was for us!  To give credit where credit is due, the original project came from leethal.net’s blog – you can see how they did it here.  We made a few changes to their instructions to help with the durability and they turned out great!  Here’s how we did it. Things you’ll need for this project:…

After working for years in the decorated apparel industry doing product research for some of it, we thought we knew all there was about t-shirt decorating and selling.  Boy were we pleasantly surprised to find out we didn’t know half of it and figured you didn’t either so we thought we would share….. Over 60% wore a t-shirt at least once a day. (WOW!) How did we find out more?  Well we convinced 45 of our friends, facebookers, and tweeps to help us out with a survey on their t-shirt use.  Ok, I’m sure  the begging had something to do with it but either way we got…

This bold T shirt design is from Vicious History, a store who combine classical American heritage with modern graphic styles. Their founder Chaz explains the design… The idea for the occultist design has been around since I started Vicious History in early 2012. My vision for the piece was to capture ideas and symbols of 19th and 18th century American heritage and combine that with bold graphic styles. Matthew Skiff designed the artwork and I think that he was the perfect man for the job. He has a very clean style which features large areas of bold, solid colors. This design is somewhat…

T shirt issue Number 74 from T-Post – the brand which creates T shirt designs with a story. This design is all about that hot topic piracy The creative director (who also designed this issue) at T-Post tells us more…… “The story I had to illustrate for T-Post was about piracy in the music and film industry. I wanted to design something with a clear retro touch so I played around the VHS phenomenon and the movies I was collecting when I was a kid. At the time of this drawing I was quite tired of working with my computer so I decided to take some time off the screen and draw…

Cool T shirt design inspired by a shirt worn by Jim Carrey in Dumb And Dumber according to artist Jorge Garza. Read on to find out more… Usually when I create something that isn’t illustration based, it could involve anything from elements of designs I haven’t finished, sketches, vector shapes or even photos I’ve taken. I tend to do these types of designs after a long illustration. It’s taking a break while still being creative and having some fun. This turned out to be a better example of that process and while I don’t have a formula for doing this kind of…

Weird and wonderful skater T shirt for Bad News Boards. I kinda love this stuff so was made up when designer Nils agreed to explain his process to us… “Matt from Bad News Boards contacted me earlier this year and said that they wanted to work with me. I heard about them before and I really like the decks and shirts that Killer Napkins made for them. So I was already excited about this project because I knew they are into weird surreal illustrations. They liked some of my previous designs for High Five! Clothing and Artanky and were looking for something like that. So I combined a…

T shirt for The Select Few label from up and coming designer Serji Gold. Find out how Serji created the design in his explanation of his creative process… “I was approached by Scott, the creator of The Select Few Clothing, after he came across some of my previous work. Scott is an avid Photographer so he wanted to capture that in his first design. We discussed his idea of creating a large graphic for a t-shirt that would portray a DSLR Camera that would look like it’s hanging around the wearers neck. Once we agreed on some fundamental points for the design I started the…
